Succesfull Install and Migration from CF_FORUM2000

I installed this forum today, no problems. Great job! I've had a forum online for years via CF_Forum2000. It was written SO long ago I guess the programmer didn't write good code back then and there were NO cfqueryparams on any queries so the whole db got hosted by this most recent SQL Injection Virus. Of course I should have fixed the code long ago and didn't. Anyway, I decided to move over to this forum, I like the similarity to phpbb and the fact that it is open source.

I installed it and then wrote several SQL scripts to import all the users, threads, messages, forums from the old board to this one. For the most part everything transferred without a hitch. I also updated the code so if a user signs up on my main site and/or activates their login on my main site, it all transfers over to the forum. You can view the forum here
http://www.dreamjournal.net/forum/

I'll definitely report back any issues etc, but so far so good. Thanks for a great open source product.

Success at running3wide.com

I want to report success at running3wide.com although I am still having a few issues every once in awhile with "null pointers". I think the software is a great open source project. I wanted to use Cold Fusion since that is the best language I am familiar with, but this ColdFusion is so advanced for me that it looks foreign to me, but I am learning.

I want to say that I have the software integrated fairly well into my site, inclduing theme and user accounts, but I am still trying to integrate into the existing authentication system tied to the main application. I am still working on it. The entire site is still in development and testing, so I am glad that I was able to implement this forum software without any major problems so I can focus on other things.

Thanks again and great job with it! I truly appreciate the efforts!

New Installation www.bvafans.com

http://www.bvafans.com

So I haven't done a CFMBB installation in a while - heck, even bvafans.com is 6 months old or more... but I finally got around to doing a graphic design for it and promoting it so it's go a few users now.

Some things worth noting.

I customized the BBML support to include the ability to embed youtube videos in forum postings, using this syntax

I also added some code to breadcrums.cfm that checks to see if anyone is in the chat room and if so, prints a message and a link to the chat room to encourage chat activity.

And hopefully the design will be somewhat search engine friendly. I also added a automatically generated google sitemap (the code for the sitemap will be in the next release probably)

RE: Successful Integration

good luck! I know complete integration is possible, but it would take a fair amount of work and would almost certainly be completely custom for just about every instance.

Basically you'd have to make some minor adjustments to your authentication code that would do things like create/update the CFMBB user tables, automatically create cfmbb authentication sessions and cookies, etc

Successful Integration

I have successfully integrated CFMBB into our site: www.antarctican.org. Little traffic so far, but everything tested out fine. Next step is bypassing the CFMBB login since the site has a members login. I tried private messaging the one poster on this forum who said he had a way to do it, but never got a reply. I guess I'll have to work it out myself.

Good work, Rick! A donation has been made.

Getting an email error when posting. Message gets posted but is not visible due to error message on screen.

I tried unhiding the Admin email address. Checked the db--user email addresses are properly formatted. Error emails are being sent to the admin. Confirmation emails are being sent to new users.
The error appears to be the "From" on subscriber emails--which are not going out.
